STINGLESS BEES
I noticed them for the first time in Myanmar (Burma) in 2004, covered with taro pollen. Here are some leads to information about stingless bees:
In the Myeik (Mergui) Archipelago of Myanmar, "Pwenyet" the resinous nest of the Trigona laeviceps, or dammer bee, makes valuable caulking for boats when mixed with earth - oil ( www.myanmar.gov.mm/Perspective/persp1996/12-96/mye.htm as retrieved by Google on 20 Dec 2004 18:12:05 GMT):
Other insects reported on taro include Aspidiella hartii, and artropod that is primarily associated with yams.
Pests on taro include the freshwater snail Pomacea canaliculata
