ANCIENT STARCH RESEARCH IN JAPAN



The first text book for ancient starch research (Torrence and Barton, eds, 2005)

 

In 2004, a small project on ancient starch was started in Japan at the National Museum of Ethnology, Osaka, in collaboration with the Niigata Prefectural History Museum and the Museum of Kyoto and other institutions.

Images and legends explain Indian processing of acorns in California, at McCoy's web project site, Las Positas College. The South African Museum displays a grain mat being used in front of a grinding stone. An outline of the history of bread includes an image of an Ethiopian quern in use. The University of East Anglia, Climate Research Unit has photographed a grinding stone in the desert of Mauritania.
